And with all the expenses that you had in these last months you could have bought one of the Elon Musk houses. Even if it would be a temporary house until the main house be built.

Make a search on the web and find them.

You have spend in what you like to do, and you can do whatever you want with your cents, its yours.

 You´ll need water, (running water and plumbing) and power sources to live inside the house. But these are some of the many things needed to live in a house. (To have a liveble house)

But there´s no rush and there will be no rush. As you have been saying the time is still for adventure and fun and you´ve all the time in the world to build a house. When and wherever you want. It can be done, if it´s your wish, with work and with and in time. No rush, you´ll have and take your own time.

Comments that you receive from people about the time that has been taken to build the house

It´s not just the house, there are many other things to do at once, (should be one thing at time) and along the time there. 

Beside it, beside all the work and buildings that have to be done there are human beings living in the farm, your wife and kids and you.

Building alone, not always easy and it takes much more time to do or build something. It´s always better to do something with someone else, sometimes, somethings.

As you said, "up and down with materials and tools", and for some works four hands is better and much easy than with only two. It's  a lot of work that has to be done, a lot to build a house... a homestead... a liveble place.

Before any wood be put in place the walls must be solid and leveled with cemente. Then you can build the roof raft.

With what and how are you going to build the pool? Materials and tools? With the options you have did you choose well? The less expensive, with the materials and tools that you have? Wood and a plastic? (very expensive)

On the imagem, where you see dirt you can put cemente instead a plastic. (Making sure that the pool walls and the cemente that you can put over, above the dirt are water proof) then you or even before the cemente on the dirt you can put some rocks around the pool.

A pump to remove water from the pool... to once in a while clean the pool.

Bricks, blocks, cemente, concrete are not so expensive, wood is. You have some wood there, but you have to buy some other and that´s very expensive.

Brick and cement are more resistant and durable over time than wood. 

In terms of work and building, two different types of work and building. Brick and cemente vs wood, different materials and tools.

See, with a little more cement and water is much easy to work with cement and on the cement with stones, rocks, shapes and forms. The cement will dry, and will not crack much easier as if it had more sand than cement and dry, as you've been doing it.
